Detailed Description

Declare identifiers for Windows Common Object Model (COM).

In short, declaration and definitions of GUID's is a mess !

Some GUID's are declared in standard headers in the Windows SDK but their definition require libraries which are provided by the DirectX SDK only.

Some GUID's are either not declared in standard headers or in headers which requires external headers. Example: most DirectShow filters are declared in qedit.h which is included in the Windows SDK (and VC++) but which requires dxtrans.h which comes with DirectX SDK. We declare these GUID here. Their definition, however, are available in libraries from the Windows SDK.

The library strmiids.lib defines some COM & DirectShow GUID's. However, the exact list of GUID's which are defined here depends on the Windows SDK version. Many GUID's were defined here in Windows SDK v6.0A (Visual C++ 2008) but disappeared in Windows SDK v7.0A (Visual C++ 2010).
